<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>Devil Mountain Software技術長Craig Barth周三（9/3）發表一篇比較各大瀏覽器耗費系統資源的文章，其中包含<SPAN class=t_tag href="tag.php?name=Google">Google</SPAN>新推出的Chrome、IE8、IE7及<SPAN class=t_tag href="tag.php?name=Firefox">Firefox</SPAN>，發現Chrome是當中最耗費記憶體資源的瀏覽器。 </FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>Barth 指出，Chrome與IE 8一樣都是針對未來的硬體規格所設計，所使用的多處理程序分頁模式可讓每個分頁各自獨立，當其中一個分頁當掉時不會影響其他分頁，同時也能保護其他諸如 <SPAN class=t_tag href="tag.php?name=Gmail">Gmail</SPAN>或Google Docs等複雜的網路應用程式，這意謂著Chrome將會比Firefox或IE 7等使用單一處理程序的瀏覽器耗費更多記憶體。 </FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>Barth是在XP SP3作業系統上測試這四大瀏覽器，在四大瀏覽器上同時開啟十個分頁，發現Chrome最多耗費324MB記憶體，平均耗費267MB；</FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>而IE 8最多耗費332MB記憶體，平均使用211MB；</FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>IE 7最多使用209MB記憶體，平均使用142MB；Firefox最多僅使用151MB記憶體，平均使用104MB。 </FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>Chrome亦在CPU使用率上居冠。</FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>根據Barth的測試，Chrome的CPU使用率為45%，居次的是Firefox的42%，而IE 8則僅有24%，IE 7為13%。 </FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>不過，在執行緒數量上，Firefox及IE 7因為使用單一的處理事件來處理所有的分頁，因此使用較少的執行緒，分別為25及43個。</FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>但IE 8則使用153個執行緒，Chrome則僅使用48個。 </FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>Barth 認為比較有趣的地方在於Chrome使用執行緒的方式，有25個執行緒是用在開啟第一個Chrome事件的時候，他猜測這些執行緒主要是用來處理基本的使 用者介面功能，而要開啟其他分頁的時候則僅需要2個執行緒以處理核心的網頁呈現功能。</FONT></STRONG></P>

<P><STRONG><FONT color=blue size=4>這也讓Chrome可能無法提供如IE 8般大規模的平行運算功能，但卻能平衡Chrome其他設計所耗費的記憶體。 </FONT></STRONG></P>
