<P align=center><STRONG><BR>梅聖俞嘗作《四禽言》。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>余謫黃州，寓居定惠院，繞舍皆茂林修竹，荒池蒲葦。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>春夏之交，鳴鳥百族，土人多以其聲之似者名之，遂用聖俞體作《五禽言》。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>使君向蘄州，更唱蘄州鬼。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>我不識使君，寧知使君死。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>人生作鬼會不免，使君已老知何晚。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>（王元之自黃移蘄州，聞啼鳥，問其名。</STRONG><STRONG>或對曰："此名蘄州鬼。</STRONG><STRONG>"元之大惡之，果卒於蘄）。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>南山昨夜雨，西溪不可渡。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>溪邊布穀兒，勸我脫破礻誇。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>不辭脫袴溪水寒，水中照見催租瘢。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>（士人謂布穀為脫卻破袴）。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>去年麥不熟，挾彈規我肉。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>今年麥上場，處處有殘粟。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>豐年無象何處尋，聽取林間快活吟。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>（此鳥聲雲：麥飯熟，即快活）。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR><BR>力作力作，蠶絲一百箔。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>壟上麥頭昂，林間桑子落。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>願儂一箔千兩絲，繅絲得蛹飼爾雛。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>（此鳥聲雲：蠶絲一百箔）。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>姑惡姑惡，姑不惡，妾命薄。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>君不見東海孝婦死作三年乾，不如廣漢龐姑去卻還。</STRONG></P>
<P align=center><STRONG><BR>（姑惡，水鳥也。</STRONG><STRONG>俗雲婦以姑虐死，故其聲雲）。</STRONG></P>
